Meroe wins Barclays Independence golf

Accra, March 7, GNA - Masao Meroe beat Leonard MacCaulley on countback after they had both scored 42 points, to win this year's Barclays Bank Ghana Limited Independence Day Eagle Open golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday. Esau Amezando also beat Robert Allotey on countback each scoring 40 points to take the third position while Ted Deignan won against Frank Adu on countback with 39 score to take the fifth position.

Mary Hanson won the Ladies event with 41 points, Beatrice Hampton came second with 40 points, Ama Morgan took the third position with 39 points, after beating Anida Ward and Mary Anderson on count-back while Yaa Konadu Safo-Debrah placed sixth with 37 points.

Mr Kobina Quansah, Managing Director of Barclays on behalf of the bank presented a cheque for 10 million cedis to the club.
