The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has claimed that Ghanaian youth are no longer safe under what he describes as the oppressive and selective governance of the John Dramani Mahama-led administration.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, September 19, 2025, he accused the government of deploying state institutions to harass and intimidate members of the opposition.
Here's why Abronye could get a 4-year jail term
“We’re seeing state-sponsored harassment of opposition voices. Our country is being destroyed. The youth of Ghana are no longer safe. They cannot speak. We will not allow a government to turn us into tenants; timid people. That is not the youth of Ghana. We will resist oppressive rule,” he said.
He called on the youth to participate in the party’s protest, “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna,” scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to demonstrate against what he described as perversion of justice and abuse of power.
“I say to you, all of you, rise and let’s demonstrate on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, and show our abhorrence to the selectivity, the injustice, the perversion of this government. For all of us, for our collective safety, that will build a better society for Ghana,” he remarked.

The NPP maintains that the protest has become necessary in response to what it views as a campaign of state-backed intimidation, allegedly executed with the support of the Ghana Police Service.
