The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has stated that the Bawku conflict mediation report should unite the two factions involved in the long-standing dispute.
Presenting the report to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Jubilee House, he clarified that the exercise was a mediation process, not arbitration.
“I’m here to present the facts as they are so we can have peace. I’m not here to give a judgment as to who was right or wrong. The report should bind all of us. I have explained to the various parties that it was mediation, not arbitration,” he said.

The mediation process began in April 2025, with the Asantehene holding separate consultations with representatives of the feuding factions to initiate dialogue.
