The current rise of Reggae & Dancehall music in Ghana excites Sonni Balli

Ghanaian born UK based acclaimed reggae and dancehall artist Sonni Balli has made known his excitement at the rise and popularity of reggae and dancehall music in Ghana after years of dedication and hard work.

Often referred to by the two most vibrant dancehall artists in Ghana, Samini and Shatta Wale as a godfather, Sonni Balli in an interview with NY DJ on the Kapital Entertainment Unplugged Show over the weekend disclosed his utmost joy and satisfaction at the love Ghana has finally bought into a dream that he helped pioneer years ago although there was still much to be done in marketing the genre.

“It is a good thing to see reggae and dancehall music fly so high in Ghana now. Remember, I am not in Ghana but I hear and follow everything that goes on with the genre out here.”

Sonni Balli whose recently released Valentine’s day single Afrakomma has had very positive reviews from all walks of life disclosed he was very happy to have worked with both Samini and Shatta Wale who seem not to be on good terms.

“Basically I’m really happy to have worked with both upcoming and already established Ghanaian artists but I must say I’m not really moved at the whole friction thing between both artists because it is part of dancehall music. Dancehall music is battle music.”

Throwing more light on his music, he revealed the video for his new single Afrakomma was ready and would be released soon. He further stated that plans were far advanced for the release of his album of which he would be dropping single tracks in due course.

Sonni Balli is currently domiciled in the UK.
