Farmer bonded for assaulting 75-year old woman

Twifo Praso (C/R), Nov. 20, GNA-A 36-yar old farmer, Kwesi Aboah, from Mile 34 Village, near Twifo Praso, who assaulted a 75-year old woman, because trees felled on her farm had destroyed some plantain trees in his farm, was on Friday bonded to be of good behaviour for 12 months by a district magistrate's court at Twifo Praso.

Aboah, who pleaded guilty to assault would go to prison for three months in default and was ordered by the court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay to pay a restitution of 400,000 cedis to the complainant, Madam Mary Lamley or in default three months imprisonment. Prosecuting Chief Inspector George Okine told the court that on July 24 this year, Madam Lamley whose farm is near the convict's garden, had some trees on her farm felled and in the process some fell and destroyed some plantain trees in the garden.

He said this infuriated Amoah, who insulted and slapped Madam Lamley and that when she picked a stick to defend herself, he snatched it from her and used it to whip her.
