Teachers angry over directive to stop extra classes

The Education Minister has incurred the wrath of some teachers over her latest attempt to stop them from organizing extra classes.

Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang has instructed teachers to stop organizing extra-classes for pupils.

According to her, teachers can cover all topics in the syllabus within the stipulated teaching hours adding that there is no need for extra classes.

The Education Minister added that extra classes are also stressful for pupils.

But some teachers in the Accra metropolis are opposing the attempt to stop them from organizing extra classes.

According to them, it’s not easy to cover the entire syllabus in a term and need the extra classes to complete it.
