President in Berlin

President John Agyekum Kufuor arrived in Berlin yesterday to begin a three-day official visit to Germany.

Accompanied by the First Lady, Theresa Kufuor, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Minister of Foreign Affairs and other officials President Kufuor was met on arrival by officials of the Federal Foreign Affairs office and Alhaji R.I. Alhassan, Ghana's Ambassador to Germany and staff of the embassy.

The Ghanaian community in Berlin converged at his hotel where Okraba Mensah Abrampah a Ghanaian resident in Germany poured libation for the safe arrival of the delegation.

President Kufour addressed the Ghanaian community in the evening.

He would today hold talks with Mrs Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul Federal Minister of Economic Co-operation and Development.

In the afternoon he would have a meeting with Chancellor Gerhard Schroder at the Federal Chancellery and President Johannes Rau.

Development assistance constitutes the centre-piece of Ghana's relations with Germany.

Economic Relations between Ghana and Germany have existed since 1961
