Takoradi-Paga railway line started during Mills’ administration – Minority rebuts

As the analysis of President Akufo-Addo’s maiden State of Nation Address continuous, the minority has revealed what they term as evidence to back their claims that the address by the president was full of ‘lies’ and ‘half-truths’.

One of such untruth according to the minority is the commitment by the Akufo-Addo government to construct the railway line from Tarkoradi to Paga in a year.

According to the former Deputy Minister of Finance, Ato Forson, the project begun during Mills' administration and as at the end of the Mahama-led NDC administration, more than half of the front end engineering works had been completed.

He fiercely condemned the impression created by the president that the Takoradi to Paga railway line was the brain child of the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration.

“The then administration initiated and started the front end engineering design for Takoradi-Paga. As we speak more than half of the architectural and engineering works for Tarkoradi-Paga has been completed.”

"For H.E the president to state that they are going to initiate, he’s creating the impression as if they are going to start something new. This is not new; the project had begun from NDC one."

He explained that the NDC governments were committed to the completion of this project.

This reaction was put across during a press conference organized by the minority in parliament to present ‘facts’ concerning the State of the Nation.
