The Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional area, Daasebre Prof.Emeritus Oti-Boateng has lashed out at persons who spread “fake news” about freemasonry as spiritual organization that gets wealth from human sacrifice.

According to him, this misconception is unfortunate, baseless and fake News.

He said this on Saturday, April, 27, 2019 when he was honoured as a founding father for 2019 masonic year by the Grand Lodge of Ghana.

The debate about freemasonry as a secret cult and an organization highly immersed in rituals rages on despite some positive confessions about the society by key members in Ghana.

“I am a proud Freemason and I confirm that principles and tenets of freemasonry that we are taught in the Lodge, especially in the areas of governance and accountability have always stood me in good stead in my daily functions as Asantehene” Otumfuo revealed in 2017 at the launch of a book titled: “The Freemasons; who we are; what we stand for and do; our relevance – An insider’s view”.

Adding his voice to the debate, Daasebre Oti-Boateng, said when he was initiated into Freemansory in 1971 and rose to become the Lodge Master in 1985 he learnt many lessons of life including charity which changed his life from darkness to light.

“The Lodge has an important official whose duty is to oversee the needs of the brethren and act as the main contact for its charity.

“Since becoming Master of the Lodge, 34 years ago in 1985 and especially after my enstoolment as Omanhene in 1992, I have regularly spearheaded charitable operations including computer donations to several schools, religious organizations and other establishments, scholarship grants to many capable but needy students, cash donations to disaster victims including market women and schools, extension of potable water and installation of requisite storage tanks to schools to enjoy continuous supply of treated water and the provision of roofing sheets and other items to victims of disasters".

“…As a Freemason, there is nothing more fulfilling than the opportunity touch several lives positively through such generosity".
