Dr Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has dared the main opposition New Patriotic Party to stage a “big” demonstration in the Volta region – the governing party’s stronghold – to prove that Ghanaians are really tired of the Mahama-led administration.
The opposition NPP, last week, staged in Accra, what has been described as the biggest demonstration ever organised in the country in the last few decades, to protest the erratic power supply and the mismanagement of the economy by the NDC administration.
On Wednesday February 25, a pro-NPP group, ‘Movement for Change’ also staged another demonstration in the party’s biggest electoral constituency, the Ashanti region where thousands of people protested fuel price hikes, erratic power supply and poor standards of living.
The demonstration was graced by the vice presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other bigwigs of the party.
But Dr. Nkrumah is not impressed with the demonstrations in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions.
He wrote on his Facebook page after the Kumasi demonstration that: “I want to see a big NPP demo in the Volta region, then I will know the party is working!”.
