Medical items donated to Regional Hospital, Koforidua

Koforidua, Jan. 12, GNA- The management of Books for Africa Library Project, Ghana,(BALP) a Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) on Friday, donated some boxes of medical supplies to the Regional Hospital, Koforidua.

The items include six boxes of anti-bacteria hand washing soap, one box of Provol, moisturized skin protectant, one box of disposable syringes, one box of special nutrition concentrate for children and 30 pieces of scrubbing uniforms.

Presenting the items, Mrs Hilda Bromley, Manager of BALP said though the project mainly dealt in the supply of books, it could help in the supply of medical supplies to hospitals and clinics in the country if arrangements could be made for taxes to be waved on the medical supplies.

She said apart from the Regional Hospital, other health institutions that benefited from the medical supplies included St. Joseph's Hospital, three clinics in Kukurantumi and a clinic at New Tafo.

Mr. Lucio Dery, Secretary of the Regional Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, thanked the management of BALP and said the hospital has a library for which it would be prepared to receive medical books to support the in-service training of the staff of the hospital.
