Sir John tells Police - I don't have Bawumia's car

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie says he does not have Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s accident vehicle and has asked the police to go look for it.

His comments come after the police on Thursday gave the NPP General Secretary a 24-hour ultimatum to produce the vehicle which was involved in an accident at Bole in the Northern region on Sunday.

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, hours after the accident accused the National Security and the ruling NDC of being behind the near-fatal crash.

The allegation by Sir John has sparked a public debate with several pro-government groups calling on the Police to take over the vehicle and conduct some investigations into the matter.

Sir John in an interview confirmed that the NPP on Thursday received a formal request by the Police to produce the mangled vehicle for investigations.

Speaking to XYZ News, Sir John said asking him to produce that car does not make "sense" since he is not aware of the whereabouts of the vehicle.

“They have asked me to produce the car but I can tell you that I do not have the car and that I have not gone to tow any vehicle and so they should look elsewhere," he said.

The NPP General Secretary added that “the letter stated that they are reliably informed that some NPP executives have towed the vehicle to an unknown destination and so if they are saying some NPP executives then they must know who and who did…so to ask me in person to show them the present location of the vehicle doesn’t make sense to me”.
