Hearts Chapters to boycott match

THE National Chapters Committee (NCC), the umbrella group of Accra Hearts of Oak's supporters, has called on their entire membership to boycott the special anniversary match between the league champions and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in memory of the May 9 tragedy.

An annual memorial match between the two sides was instituted as part of the recommendations by the Sam Okudzeto Commission that investigated the disaster that occured at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In a press release signed by its national chairman, Joe Ato Quagraine, the Chapters reiterated a decision taken during its 7th Annual Delegates Assembly to boycott the memorial match.

The NCC says that until the Okudzeto Commission identifies the root cause of the tragedy, the club can not be part of the match scheduled for May 5, 2002.
