Security has been beefed up in Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region as the Supreme Court is set to rule on a protracted chieftaincy dispute between two royal factions today, Wednesday, 23 May 2018.

Conflicts have led to deaths and destruction of property in Bimbilla over the years, as a result of the protracted chieftaincy fight.

The case was sent to the Supreme Court by the late Nakpa Naa, Salifu Dawuni, after the National House of Chiefs ruled against him at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and declared the late Naa Dasana Andani Yakubu II as the rightful heir.

Police and military personnel have been deployed to the area to ensure no conflict ignites after the apex court determines the matter.

Spokespersons for the two factions in the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute have said they have agreed to maintain peace irrespective of which of the factions emerges victorious.
