Contractor on Asafo Market Interchange resumes work

Kumasi, Aug. 01, GNA - The management of Sarroch Gelfigy, the Italian company executing the Asafo Market Interchange project in Kumasi has responded to the ultimatum given by the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council (ARCC) to resume work or have the contract terminated.

The company started work three days after the deadline to complete the project.

Mr Mohamed, the Assistant Project Manager conducting Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister round the site on Tuesday said they had resumed work and had enough materials to complete the project.

He said the materials included 150 million cedis worth of chippings and additional machinery and equipment for the early completion of the project.

Mr Mohammed gave the assurance that work would not be interrupted adding, "We care for the early completion of the project. There would be remarkable improvement in the project within the next few weeks and called for his support and co-operation."

The Regional Minister expressed appreciation to the company for the resumption of work and asked the contractor "To keep to his word because the project was his headache as well as residents within the metropolis."

He appealed to residents within the metropolis to exercise restraint for the delay on the project that had reached a crucial stage for completion.

Mr Owusu-Ansah pledged to pay regular visits to the project site until its completion.
