Same sex marriage is evil – Methodist Bishop

The Right Reverend Albert Ofoe-Wright, immediate-past Methodist Bishop of the Somanya, has labelled homosexuality as evil and called on Ghanaians to strongly reject the practice.

It is something abnormal and abominable and should never be encouraged on the excuse of respecting the human rights of gays and lesbians, he said.

Bishop Ofoe-Wright said the fact that same-sex marriage has been legalised elsewhere does not make it right for it to be either copied or replicated in Ghana.

He urged Christians to send a message to the political leadership to resist any overtures by the rich and influential nations to intimidate or cajole the country to blindly follow their unrighteous path.

Bishop Ofoe-Wright said this when preaching at the commissioning of 25 trained evangelists held at the Old-Tafo Dunwell Methodist Church in Kumasi.

He said marriage between people of the same-sex “is unbiblical” and the challenge is for everybody to help fight this.

He urged the evangelists who had completed three years of training, that the task ahead would be tough and demand hard work, dedication and sacrifice.

“You need to work with total dedication for the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few.”

Bishop Ofoe-Wright, told the evangelists to operate strictly within the constitution of the church.

The Synod Secretary of the Kumasi Diocese, the Very Rev Christopher Nyarko Andam, counselled the evangelists on the need to be steadfast and show the right leadership to win more souls for the Church.
