SUSEC wins NHIS inter-school quiz

Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC) emerged winners in an inter-schools quiz competition organised by the Brong-Ahafo Regional office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The competition was organised to mark the 10th anniversary celebration of the scheme in Sunyani.

SUSEC obtained 48 marks at the end of the fourth round of the competition to outsmart the Presbyterian Senior High School, which had 46 marks for the second position.

St James Seminary and Senior High School at Abesim, placed third while Serwaa Kesse Senior High School at Duayaw-Nkwanta took the fourth position.

Each of the three students who participated in the competition which centred on the history and achievements of the NHIS since its introduction in 2003, received a number of exercise books and other learning materials.

SUSEC will represent the Region at the zonal level of the competition to be held in Kumasi.

Addressing the participants, Mr Foster Adjei-Korang, Regional Manager of the NHIS said the competition was geared at educating the public on the need to register with the scheme.

He said Ghana’s NHIS is among the best in the world and advised those who had not registered with the scheme to do so in order to access quality healthcare.

Mr Adjei-Korang said the scheme’s total membership in the region had increased tremendously and advised the public to support to sustain it.
