CAL Bank sponsors Golf competition at Tarkwa

Tarkwa, (W/R) May 22, GNA - Phildre Engebrecht, an amateur Golfer of Goldfields Ghana Limited (GFGL), Tarkwa Mines emerged the champion of the male golfers category when he bagged 43 points over 18 holes at the first CAL BANK sponsored Western Regional Individual Golf Competition held at Tarkwa.

He was followed by Mr Plange Kwofie with 38 points with Graham San taking the third position with 37 points.

In the female category, Mrs Mary Kaningen of Tarkwa Golf Club took the first position with 35 points with Mrs. Mavis Nsarkoh also of Tarkwa Golf Club placing second with 33 points.

Mrs Boahemaa Ntim, Marketing and Client Services Manager, CAL BANK said the Bank's relationship with GFGL has a long history dating back several years and there was the need to appreciate each others contributions hence the sponsorship of Golf at GFGL.

She said it is the hope of the Bank that with the continuous improvement of relationship in terms of business transactions, the bank would reciprocate by supporting sporting events with the GFGL, adding that, "apart from this sponsorship we also render corporate services and good products which needs to be supported informally as well".

Mr Patrick von Kpekpena, Manager, Mining and member of the GFGL Golf Club commended the heavy turnout as very outstanding in the record of individual golf competition.

He said the challenge now is to have a good golf course to enable many people to compete and thanked the Bank for the sponsorship. 22 May 07
