Robbery Victim shot dead

Armed robbers attacked three distributors of Lesken Enterprise Limited located in Bolgatanga, on the Kukore Tilli road of Bawku West District in the Upper East Region, killing one instantly.

The District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Ankran who confirmed the robbery to the Ghana News Agency, said the attack took place about 200 metres away from the Tilli junction, on the Bolgatanga-Bawku road at about 19:00 hours on November 18.

The Police upon arrival at the scene realised that a KIA SLM truck with registration number GT 8755-14 had been shot at and the three occupants of the vehicle sustained several gunshot wounds.

The Commander said the victims were sent to the Zebilla District Hospital where one of them, Mr Paul Ayine was confirmed dead by the Medical Superintendent, Dr Patrick Atobrah.

When the GNA visited the hospital, both Mr Clifford Anaba and Mr Gilbert Atanga, the two surviving victims of the robbery, were receiving medical care. The former was later referred to the Orthopedic Surgeon in the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.

According to ASP Ankran, preliminary investigations revealed that the truck was from Binaba heading to Bolgatanga when the robbers opened fire on the occupants and the tyres of the truck which resulted in it somersaulting.

The robbers then rushed on the victims and made away with an unspecified amount of money.

He said investigations were underway to bring the perpetrators to book.
