Ofori-Quaye Undergoes Operation

Olympiakos forward Peter Ofori-Quaye underwent a successful cruciate ligament operation on Friday in Athens.

The Ghanaian international youngster had cruciate ligament damage as well as cartilage problems. No career-threatening damage was revealed, though, and the 20-year-old will resume training in three months.

Ofori-Quaye was desperate before the operation, as it was the third time he has had an injury to his left knee. He was afraid that he wouldn't play football again, but Olympiakos doctor Christos Darras, dismissed such fears. "He will be ready to play at the top level again in a few months," he said. "Of course he needs all the medical care we can offer and his contribution will be to follow all the preventive measures and start physiotherapy as soon as possible."

Ofori-Quaye had been ready to travel to Africa for the important tie against the Nigerian national team before the injury happened.
