Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson Dafeamekpor wants the ten Regional Chairmen of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) rebuked by the party for openly endorsing ex-President John Mahama as the party’s Flagbearer for the 2020 election.

According to him, they by their action have flouted the NDC’s constitution as they are not supposed to take sides with persons contesting elections.

The MP’s comments follow the endorsement by all ten Regional Chairpersons of the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) backing the candidature of former President, John Dramani Mahama in the 2020 general elections.

At a meeting held Thursday, November 9, 2017 between the former leader and the Regional Chairpersons of the NDC party at Cantonments in Accra, the ten officials said Mr. Mahama must “consider the requests of the teeming supporters” and lead the party into contest in the next elections.

Commenting further on the issue on Joy FM’s News File show Saturday, Hon. Rockson Dafeamekpor who roundly condemned the action of the chairmen said they had no business doing what they did.

“Within the scheme of the NDC constitution they must be reprimanded, they should be cautioned to desist from that then the reorganization at the grassroots can take off. Such action throws things out of gear particularly at the regional level where our strength are really based. So I think they should remain neutral for now until the cost is clear.”
