Annual Ghana Open Golf tees off on April 14

Accra, April 12, GNA - The 74th Annual Ghana Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra from Friday, April 14 to Monday, April 17.

Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association who announced this in Accra on Wednesday, said the four-day 54-Hole Scratch Play under the patronage of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu the Second, is being sponsored by SG-SSB Bank. He said more than 200 golfers throughout the country are expected to participate in the competition, the biggest event on the calendar of the Ghana Golf Association.

The championship would be played under the rules of the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club. Among an array of golfers expected in action include Michael Aggrey, Frank Adu Junior, Yaw Assah-Sam, Charles Tabi, Kwame Saarah-Mensah and John Sam all of the Achimota Golf Club. The Tema team, which would be led by their captain, Kofi Gyau would include William Yeboah and Frank Etwi-Barimah. Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister for Education and Sports is expected to grace the occasion.
