Reckless Procurement At Ghanair

PERPETRATOR WON’T TALK TO THE MEDIA … CLAIMS LINK TO EX-NPP CHAIRMAN

According to GHANAIAN CHRONICLE , one major thing that has ‘crash landed’ the national airline, Ghanair is the reckless procurement of equipment by its engineering department.

Investigations into the procurement of most of the equipment indicated that Mr. Joseph Evelyn Mensah Brown, former Deputy Director of Engineering under the Quartey administration and second-in-command in Capt. Kwakwa’s management taskforce, took centre stage in most of the procurement.

According to CHRONICLE, he single handedly purchased most of the equipment, namely toilet and water bowlser, bead braker and wheel oven and ground power unit (GPU), which the airline never budgeted for.

The equipment, which has turned out to be a drain on the coffers of the tattered airline is lying idle at hangers 2 and 3, at the airport and can best be described as a white elephant.

When CHRONICLE contacted Mr. Brown last week on this issue and other matters in which there were strong suspicions of white-collar deals, he refused to talk and banged the phone.

Meanwhile Brown, who is serving his accumulated leave and is supposed to resume office next year, has called off his leave.

He is said to have boasted that Mr. J. B. da Rocha, a respected legal practitioner and former NPP chairman, is his father-in-law and as a result he was untouchable.
