Eighty-five people vying for 36 assembly seats in Ejura-Sekyedumase

Ejura (Ash), Sept. 9, GNA- Eighty-five people are vying to become assembly members in the 36 electoral areas in the Ejura-Sekyedumase district.

Three women from Abota, Kobriti and Appiaso are among the candidates contesting for the seats.

Mr Eric Ohene-Djan, Ejura-Sekyedumase District Electoral Officer, who disclosed this to the GNA during a day's workshop for election officials at Ejura on Friday, said five out of the 85 contestants retained their seats unopposed.

The five unopposed contestants are Branford Twumasi for Adiembra, Seidu Sulemana, Asuogya, Matthew Njourkoneh, Masuo, Emmanuel Antwi, Juoaho and Daniel Owusu-Manu, Ejura Ahenboboano electoral areas. Mr Ohene-Djan indicated that 66 people were also contesting in the 54 unit committee election in the district.

He said there would be no elections in 26 units because they had 10 people required to represent the units, adding that there would be elections in the remaining 29 units.
