Pressure mounts on Kennedy Agyapong to apologise to EC boss

In responds to the derogatory statement made by Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, against Mrs Charlotte Osei, the Chairperson of Electoral Commission, National Zongo Magajia Association has called on the MP to render unqualified apology to all women and the EC boss.

According to them, under no circumstances should the Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kennedy Agyapong, make such statements that undermine the competence and dignity of Mrs .Charlotte Osei and all women in the country.

Addressing Journalists at a press conference in Accra, the Secretary for National Zongo Magajia Association Hon. Hajia Alima M. Issah , noted that there are numerous women in the country who are also facing similar disrespect the MP is showing to Mrs. Charlotte Osei.

According to her, it is in this regard, as an association they are adding their voice to ensure that no woman who has worked tirelessly to gain her dignity should be disrespected .
“ We want to make it clear that to the world that women are not sex objects and therefore no one has the right to insult women for any reason because of their own interest”, she stated.

This she said, Mrs .Osei was properly appointed by the president as a result of her qualifications, hard work, dedication and commitment to her work. She initially served as a the Chair for the
National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and then rose to her current position.

If any one doubts her capabilities we believe the right channel is to request for her credentials and vet them accordingly.

“We therefore call on the Speaker of Parliament , leaders of his political party , the National Patriotic Party (NPP) and women his family to call him to order.

He Must apologise to Mrs.Osei and all women of Ghana for making us look like sex symbols and making a joke of the hard won reputation of such a noble and respectable woman”, she ordered.

We will join hundreds of women on Tuesday 12th July , to march in the streets of Accra to call the attention of leaders of the NPP and Parliament to sanction Mr. Kennedy Agyapong for his unacceptable and gross disrespect for women.

On 28th of June 2016, Mr Agyapong, who is well -known for making scalding and controversial comments, was reported to have said that Charlotte Osei assumed the EC Chair by giving sexual favours.
