In a move to promote ethical governance, transparency, and accountability within the public sector, President John Dramani Mahama is to launch a comprehensive Code of Conduct for appointees on May 5.
This Code of Conduct is a cornerstone of President Mahama's "Resetting the Nation" agenda, reflecting his administration’s dedication to instilling integrity and discipline in public service.
The code is to provide clear guidelines on ethical behavior, expectations for appointees, conflict of interest, financial disclosures, and performance standards for government officials, emphasising integrity, professionalism, and responsible stewardship of public resources.
John Dramani Mahama emphasised that the code would serve as a binding commitment to ethical governance, ensuring that public officials act in the best interest of the Ghanaian people.
As part of efforts to promote fiscal responsibility and modesty, President Mahama has imposed a ban on first-class air travels for government officials during official trips.
This directive aligns with the administration’s broader strategy to protect public resources and eliminate unnecessary expenses.
The announcement has garnered positive reactions from political analysts and Civil Society Organisations, who view it as a significant step toward enhancing accountability and transparency in governance.
Many believe that implementing the Code of Conduct will set a new standard for ethical leadership in Ghana.
This initiative aims to strengthen public trust, ensure that appointees serve with integrity, and demonstrate the NDC's commitment to ethical leadership.
