Opinions of Saturday, 22 December 2007

Columnist: Poku, Kojo

President: Kofi Wayo - Vice: Eric Amoateng

On December 22, the National Pick Pockets (NPP) will choose a Chief Pick Pocket (CPP) from a group Criminals In Disguise (CID). Let’s see the line up

Prof. Mike Oquaye

Shy of confidence and starved of commitment, he has shown all the appetite of a supermodel with an eating disorder. He should have used his $25,000 for clearing the Labadi beach of human excrement.

Felix Owusu Agyepong

It is simply not in his DNA to absorb the lessons of his wasted time in parliament and adjust – radically – to a new posture. Where his expected failed presidential bid will finally leave him is hardly clear. At this point it seems that if his presidential bid really is the Titanic, nobody is going down with the ship

Papa Owusu Ankomah

The Ex-Minster of Education left our educational system in the same mess he met it. His $25,000 could have been used for research into why intelligent people sometimes act foolishly - like "donating" $25,000 to a lost cause.

Dr. Philip Kwame Addo Kufuor

Ex-Defence Minister and a MP for Manhyia. Perception of a dynasty does not bode well for any infant democracy. He has the right to run, but if he had the nation at heart, he’ll not be behaving like the Eyadamas.
  • Cooked up stories about non-existent coup atempts
  • Purchase of Russian helicopters, Chinese Jets and sale of presidential jets was not transparent
  • UN peacekeeping operations brings in $10,000 per week, but the soilders are paid $20-a-day. "Oga" failed to explain where the rest of the money is going?
  • Families whose farm lands had been seized without compensation and used for the construction of a military buffer zone at Apremdo near Takoradi blame him.

Kwabena Agyepong

Former Presidential Press Secretary .. correction .. Former liar-in-chief for the castle. His arrogancy made him dish out $25,000 for a lost cause. As the saying goes “easy come easy go”.

Alan "Cash" Kyeremanteng

Former Ambassador to the United States and later minister for Presidential Special Initiative (PSI) is perceived as spending too much cash in the campaign. Alan, will have to recoup, once he becomes president. How? we all know
  • No matter how you look at it, PSI was total flop as industry after industry took the tumble
  • What happened to the proceeds from the sale of the Ghana’s ambassador’s residence in USA and why did he leave his post so abruptly. (Palaver has some answers)
  • Cleared by CHRAJ over conflict of interest and other wrong doings at the Board of the Export Development and Investment Fund, but then we all know CHRAJ is a lapdog of any sitting govt.

Hackman Owusu-Agyeman

Former minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing Minister did nothing to improve hosuing in Ghana. However he had time to beat up his househelp and then asked for the website ghanaweb to be closed down. He was hoodwinked by a Nigerian “preacher” on affordable housing..or was he part of the plot to swindle the nation

Nana Akuffo Addo

Former attoney general (AG) and minister for Justice and later foreign affairs minister who is perceived as arrogant with a bad temperament.
  • Our foreign policy under him: “Travel and beg”
  • Getting a Ghanaian passports was so riddled with corruption a journalist was able to obtain a passport using the name and picture of our sitting president
  • As the AG he established a parallel judiciary system - Fast track courts - which turned out to be slow witch-hunt courts.
  • Gruesome murder of 44 Ghanaians execution style in the Gambia: As the than minister of Foriegn minister he did virtualy nothing and even refused to appear in person in Parliament to answer questions. Shows the value he put on Ghanaian lives
  • Can he please shed some light on Beyeman freeing company and Amaadi cold store loans ;)

Aliu "Vice President" Mahama

No Endorsement from his boss of 7-years? If his boss does not find him suitable for the job, then I wonder why he’s even running
  • Yaa-na massacre: He care less about his own locality
  • He declared war on indicipline, but he forgot to put his own house in order. His son Farouk was involved in all sorts of scandals. If he cannot run his family properly, how does he expect to run a nation of 20 million
  • Hajj pilgrims: Since he took charge of these pilgrimages, not even one has gone right.

Yaw "Oyeadeyie" Osafo-Marfo

Ex-Finance Minister and later sports and education. As the finance minister, he was embroilled in some embarrassing situations. Attempt to contract fake foreign loans, e.g. CNTCI, Saloon/barber loan; chinese/german language loan. Awarded dubious contracts - Macmillan, Stadium; Received dubious award - best economic minister in Africa. Was dismissed as minister, but he has been idle since.

Frimpong Boateng

Ex-Chief Executive of the Korle-Bu "Death" hospital. If he could not improve conditions at ONE hospital, then how does he intend to run a country of 20 million "sick" people?

Kofi Konadu Apraku

One-time Minister for Regional Integration and NEPAD. Could not even make the grade in a non-perfroming administration and was fired. Freezones board nie....Apraku Nie … $25,000 nie .. nkwaseasem nie. Some people simply do not get it. They were not born to lead.

Dan Kweku Botwe

Former General Secretary of the party and Minister of Information, who was fired from his post, yet pays $25,000 to contest in the election. Reminds me of the idiom: A fool and his money are easily parted

Agyei Bawuah, Boakye Agyarko and Arthur Kennedy

Living in the United States for several years could mean they do not really grasp the magnititue of the problems of the ordinary Ghanaian. Probably the only three, from the 17, that obtained their money genuinenly. However their sense of judgement is so poor, they will make terrible presidents. Why Waste so much money on a lost cause?

So, who do I think have the experience, both in and out of public office, to not only be elected president but also do the job from day one without diping his hands in the national coffers?

If the above jokers think they can then I'll rather go for

President Kofi Wayo
Vice President Eric "CocaineHead" Amoateng (when he gets out of jail)
