Presidency dismisses reports on Deputy Defence Minister’s alleged resignation

The Office of the President has refuted claims that President John Dramani Mahama has accepted the resignation of the Deputy Minister of Defence.

The clarification follows a social media post that circulated on November 12, 2025, alleging that the Deputy Minister of Defence, Brogya Genfi, had resigned following the death of six Ghanaians during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.

In a post shared on X by the government's Information Services Department (ISD), the presidency described the circulating letter as false and urged the public to disregard it.

“The Office of the President has not issued any such statement. The circulating letter claiming that President Mahama has accepted the resignation of a Deputy Minister for Defence is fake,” the statement read.
