Member of Parliament for Pusiga, Ayamba Ayii Laadi, has come under heavy criticism on social media following comments she made about the victims who lost their lives during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.

Contributing to a statement on the floor of the house to commiserate with the families who have lost their dear ones, the Pusiga MP stated on the floor of Parliament that nothing could have been done to prevent the deaths of the victims.

According to her, the deaths were ordained by Almighty Allah.

“There is nothing that happens that doesn’t happen at the right time. This is what the Almighty Allah has ordained for them... Even if we brought all the presidents in the world to sit there as ministers or whatsoever, once today is ordained for them to die, they would,” she said.

Her remarks have since sparked outrage online, with many Ghanaians expressing disappointment and anger over what they describe as an “insensitive” and “heartless” statement.

In a series of social media posts on November 12, 2025, users labelled the MP’s comments as unwarranted and disrespectful to the bereaved families.

According to some netizens, the lawmaker could have found a more compassionate way to express herself rather than making remarks that deepened the pain of grieving relatives.

The reactions come in response to some six recruits who lost their lives on November 12, 2025, during the ongoing GAF screening exercise at El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
