A Toyota Voxy vehicle transporting boxes of shotgun ammunition without authorisation has been impounded by police at a checkpoint in the Apam area of the Central Region.
According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the interception occurred in the early hours of May 27, 2026, around 12:30 a.m., when officers manning a checkpoint at the Green Field plantation area flagged down the vehicle, which was travelling from Accra towards Assin Fosu.
Upon searching the vehicle with registration number GT 9748-26, officers discovered 14 yellow and brown boxes of shotgun ammunition.
The driver, Francis Ampomah, was unable to produce any documentation to account for the cargo.
He was immediately arrested, and the vehicle was impounded.
Both the suspect and the exhibits are currently being held at the Apam Police Station as investigations continue.
