Police have impounded 32 sacks containing an amount of GHS 83,000 on a Kumasi-bound commercial vehicle on Tuesday, December 6.

According to Assin South Police Commander ASP Andam Otchere, the amount, which came in GHS1, GHS2, GHSS20, GHS50, 10- and 20-pesewa denominations were impounded in fertiliser and jute sacks also known as ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags.

Upon interrogation, the driver could not tell the owner of the money found in his car after he was stopped by highway police.

“At the time the driver was arrested, he did not tell us whom he was transporting the money to. He was quiet and even his name he didn’t disclose to us,” ASP Otchere told Joy FM.

He explained that the case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Cape Coast regional police headquarters.
