Personal income, GETFund and NHIL bills passed by parliament

Parliament has passed the bills which will enable government to amend certain taxes and introduce new ones announced by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, during the presentation of the Mid-Year Review of the 2018 budget.

On Saturday, 28 July 2018, the bill to convert the National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL) and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to straight levies of 2.5% rate each were passed by the House.

The legislators also approved the Tax Amendment Bill which enables a 35% tax deduction for individuals who have their personal incomes exceeding GHS10,000.

Government is also imposing a 10 percent luxury vehicle tax on vehicles with engine capacity of 3.0 litres and above.
