PYM Warns Tony Aidoo: Let sleeping dogs lie!

The University of Ghana Chapter of the Progressive Youth Movement (PYM), which represents the Students’ wing of the PPP wishes to give serious warning to Tony Aidoo to let sleeping dogs lie when it comes to Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. Some dogs lying quietly are deceiving in their peaceful looks. This dog can bite! Indeed, the PPP wants to engage in productive discourse with all Ghanaians. We want to deal with what will put food on the table, a roof over our heads, cure malaria, create good jobs and generally help our people become prosperous. But our positive approach must not be mistaken as a sign of weakness. This man with a certain history at Cape Coast University and the NDPC (where Ghana missed all developmental targets set by his team) must not be tolerated by civil people.
Only recently this man confessed that he cannot objectively evaluate the performance of the Mills administration and the government because the ministries are not giving him the data! Yet he takes his pay at the end of every month as the so-called Head of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Mills Administration. A couple of weeks ago, this same man was heard on radio claiming that he would no longer engage in discussions with the opposition because they are not prepared to discuss development issues in truthfulness! This man whose interventions in the media are only to insult and engage in attacking other people and not our numerous development challenges?

We have news for Tony Aidoo and others like him that a loud mouth needs to be covered up lest it betrays the annoying character of its owner. This is what has happened. This man has been betrayed by his own loud mouth. This is clearly someone who lacks self-control. He must watch his mouth. President Mills must be kicking himself for letting this man into his administration as Tony Aidoo does not have what it takes to discuss the issues that confront Ghanaians in a manner that will bring credit to the administration.

So when someone such as Tony Aidoo removes all doubt by taking off his cover cloth on public, he must be ignored.

But we will not allow him to toy with the sterling reputation of someone Ghanaians have come to admire as illustrious, enterprising, hard-working, humble and generous such as Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. Politics is for serious people. Not for those interested in providing comic relief.

For the avoidance of doubt, Dr. Nduom has never been known as Paul Yorke. Dr. Nduom has never been a citizen of the United States of America nor has he ever claimed such. Dr. Nduom studied in America just as President Mills, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Dr. Apraku, and many, many others in Ghanaian politics. Dr. Nduom religiously files his tax returns every year and pays taxes due. That is why Parliament cleared him in February 2001 over allegations made that he had evaded paying tax.

We refuse to be distracted by the likes of Tony Aidoo. So let this sleeping dog lie. We have documents. To people like him, who have been blinded by a little power, we have news. Ghanaians are tired of power blackouts, want good food to eat, need better education, want accident -free roads, are crying for jobs and want to be rid of preventable diseases like malaria.

Tony Aidoo must account for his time at the Castle. What has he done to justify his salary, housing, fuel and other benefits that we the taxpayers fund?

In the end, it is President Mills we blame. He gave Tony Aidoo a job and keeps this non-performing man on the government's payroll. What does he say about people on government payroll descending into the gutter to dig mud to throw at hardworking Ghanaians like Dr. Papa KwesiNduom who has invested in Ghana and keeps thousands of Ghanaians employed.

Tony Aidoo must know that this otherwise peacefully-sleeping dog can bite.
The bright, burning red sun is shining light on corruption, illiteracy, poverty, and disease. We the progressives are wide awake!

Awake! Ghana.
