Ceremony held at Accra Stadium

A COW was slaughtered on Thursday to cleanse the Accra Sports Stadium where 126 people lost their lives earlier this month.

Chief Imam and other Moslem leaders invoked the mercy of Allah on the departed souls and also called for protection for the country from any future occurrence of such tragedies.

Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Mr Joe Aggrey, Brigadier George Brock of the National Sports Council as well as officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association.

The cow was slaughtered behind the stand where the fatal incident occurred.
