La Community Gets Free Medicare

Accra,(Greater Accra) 24, Oct. The Christian Mission Resource Foundation, the medical wing of the Ghana Evangelical Committee, a Non- Governmental Organisation, has given free medical care to the people of New Mantiase and Sangara at La. The medical team, led by Wing Commander (Dr) Samuel A. Anankrah attended to about 800 people including adults and children. They were diagnosed of various diseases and treated while those with serious problems were referred to hospital. Dr Anankrah said the exercise which targeted densely populated and low income areas, has been extended to Nungua, Teshie, Ashaiman and New Town. Mr Francis Osei, Programme Co-ordinator, said the association is in touch with its foreign organisation to put up a specialist hospital for surgery at a subsidised price. Mr George Ako-Nai, assemblyman for the area, who was instrumental in the exercise thanked members of the foundation for their compassion saying ''they have demonstrated the love Christ showed to his disciples''. Mr Ako-Nai appealed for frequent visits by the team to supplement government's efforts at caring for the people. Later in the evening, the foundation showed a film on personal hygeine, environmental cleanliness and family planning to the people.
