Ningo Paramount Chief Reinstated After 14 years

Old Ningo, Aug.13, - Nene Osroagbo Djangmah the second who was paramount chief of the Great Ningo traditional area from 1972 to 1983 was today re-instated as the president of the Ningo traditional council. Nene Djangmah who in 1983 abdicated for peace to prevail following a protracted chieftaincy dispute, was re-admitted in line with a supreme court ruling on June 11, this year which recognised him as the defacto paramount chief. Nene Kanor Atiapah the third, the Mankrado and until today the acting paramount chief, handed over the position to Nene Djangmah under the supervision of Mr Jacob Owuo, Registrar of the Ningo Traditional Council. Nene Djangmah presented 200,000 cedis, three cartons each of bear and gin, three crates of soft drinks, two gallons of akpeteshie (local gin) and a ram to the council. The ram was slaughtered to signify his admission and acceptance by the 21-member house. According to Mr Owuo, a dispute over the rightful occupant of the stool compelled Nene Djangmah to abdicate and Nene Atiapah acted as paramount chief until another chief, Nene Addo Huago the fourth, was installed in 1993.
