Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has sent a delegation to grace the final funeral rites ceremony of the late Dagbon Overlord Ya Na Yakubu Andani II.

Nana Baffour Asabere Kugyawoaso Ababio III led the Asanteman delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani at the Gbewa Palace on Thursday, 17 January 2019.

The Asante chiefs performed their cultural and customary dance at the forecourt of the Old Gbewa Palace, as part of the funeral.

The Asanteman delegation graced the occasion just as they did during the funeral rites ceremony of the late Overlord Ya Na Mahamudu Abdulai which was performed by the Abudu royal family of Dagbon a few weeks ago.

The Andani royal family on Friday, 11 January 2019 begun the funeral amid tight security due to skirmishes that resulted in one person’s death and the torching of some houses.

The funeral, which is part of the roadmap initiated by the Otumfuo-led Committee of Eminent Chiefs, aims to restore peace to the Dagbon Traditional Area following a prolonged chieftaincy crisis between the two royal families.

A new Ya Na is to be installed right after the completion of the funeral rites.
