GUSA games: UCC are soccer champions

Cape Coast, Jan.29 GNA - The University of Cape Coast (UCC) emerged the 18th GUSA games soccer champions with superior goals aggregate when they tied with the University of Ghana with nine points each at the end of the soccer tournament of the GUSA games in Cape Coast.

In their last crucial match played on Wednesday, University of Ghana beat UCC 3-2 but the victory could not help them to become the champions since UCC had superior goals aggregate.

Kicking under the instructions of class one referee, Jeffery Amamoo, University of Ghana took an early lead through midfielder, Stephen Ebo in the second minute.

UCC returned the challenge and after persistent pressure on their opponents they deservedly got the equaliser through their midfielder, Kwame Badu in the 31st minute.

University of Ghana who were determined to carry the day resumed the second strongly and banged in two more goals through outside right, Oduro Dennis, in the 61st minute and Mohammed Haruna in the 87th minute. UCC however managed to reduce the tally to 3-2 through substitute Jonathan Mensah in injury time.
