Omari Wadie: I am worried about Rawlings’ loud silence

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he is extremely worried over the loud silence of former President Jerry John Rawlings after the opposition filed its petition challenging the declaration of John Mahama as President by the Electoral Commission.

He is also worried over the likely war drums which some goons of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) might beat after the Supreme Court pronounces its verdict, should it not favor them.

According to Omari Wadie, the former Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency Chairman of the NPP, his concern has to do with the position of the NDC Founder prior to the 2012 election.

Speaking on Okay Fm, he claimed Mr Rawlings told the NDC that “you think that you have won, you will win today but you will lose in the long run”.

He, however, wants the ex-President Rawlings to join in the canvass for peace before the Supreme Court comes out with its final ruling on the petition.

Omari Wadie also added his voice to the call on the need to sensitize Ghanaians on the role everybody should play after the final verdict has been pronounced.

“The safety and security of Ghanaians after the Supreme Court ruling should be paramount to every concerned citizen…National Security should be up to the task of protecting the nation against their political interest because if there is war in the country, everyone will be affected,” he added.
