NDC told not to field Alhaji Brimah

Salaga (N/R), Aug 15, GNA - The youth and women's wings of the Salaga constituency branch of the NDC on Monday called on the national executive to rescind its decision to allow the incumbent member of parliament, Alhaji Baba Braimah to stand for the constituency in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

The two wings warned that the NDC " will lose heavily" if he is fielded because he is no longer the popular choice of the people.

At a meeting at Salaga to discuss the re-nomination of Alhaji Braimah they said for the past eight years, the MP has not done anything constructive for the area and dismissed as completely false the notion that he is popular in the rural areas.

The members unanimously decided to vote for Mr Boniface Abubakari Saddique and nobody else, saying if he is not allowed to contest they would abstain from voting in the elections.

They accused the party's national executive of not being democratic in the selection of the party's parliamentary candidates. Mr Saddique thanked the members for their support but urged them not to do anything that would divide the party and the constituency.

Mr advised them to use decent language in their campaigning and to eschew violence, derogatory remarks and personal attacks.
