The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah, has cautioned that Ghana’s democracy could be at risk if President John Dramani Mahama’s “Operation Recover All Loots” (ORAL) initiative fails.

According to metrotvonline.com report on October 28, 2025, Nkrumah stressed that the success of ORAL is crucial for restoring public trust in governance and ensuring an effective fight against corruption.

“If ORAL (Operation Recover All Loots) fails under President Mahama, our democracy will collapse,” he warned.

President Mahama announced the ORAL initiative during his 2024 campaign as a comprehensive plan to retrieve state funds and assets allegedly lost through corruption and mismanagement under previous administrations.

The initiative forms a core part of his broader agenda to strengthen anti-corruption institutions, recover stolen public resources, and restore accountability in public office.

Nkrumah said Ghanaians have high expectations for the initiative as a litmus test of Mahama’s commitment to fighting corruption.

He urged the government to ensure the operation is conducted transparently, fairly, and free from political interference.

“Ghanaians are watching closely. If ORAL becomes another political gimmick, it will deepen public distrust and destroy confidence in democratic institutions,” he cautioned.
