Fiaso Citizens To Undertake Housing Project

Kumasi (ASH), - The people of Fiaso, a farming community in Brong-Ahafo, have formed a Rural Housing Society to undertake self-help projects to improve the living standards of the people. A statement issued in Kumasi today and signed by Nana Kwarteng Ameyaw, Fiasohene, appealed to the Director of Rural Housing and Cottage Industries and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO's) for financial, material and technical assistance towards the establishment of a model village. It said the project is to help solve the acute accommodation problems facing the people and teachers posted to the village, where most houses are thatch-roofed and are at the mercy of bushfires. According to the statement, most teachers in the village travel daily from Techiman, Forikrom and Bonsu for classes. Fiaso which lies between Techiman and Nkoranza with a population of 5,000 is a major food producing village.
