Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie is not sure of the status of Dr Charles Wereko-Brobbey as a member of the party.
“If you are a member of the NPP and you do things contrary to the policies of the party, then you are not,” he asserted.
Likening it to the biblical quotation of not everyone professing the name of God entering heaven, Sir John disclosed that, “you cannot claim to be a member of the party and continue to subject it to public ridicule”.
Speaking to Lantam Papanko on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, he said he could only vouch for the flagbearer and a few others within the party about their commitment towards the 2016 agenda, but same cannot be said about Dr. Charles Woreku Brobbey who is an ardent critic of the party.
Dr. Wereko-Brobbey in one of his infamous criticisms advised the party to stop complaining and making noise over the call for a new voters’ register.
The party had alleged the names of over 13,000 Burkinabes in the country’s voter record.
This is in accumulation to the over 78,000 Togolese residents it had previously suspected were in the electoral record.
But in the view of Dr Charles Wereko Brobby, “They [NPP] should stop wasting our ears.”
“Let the NPP decide from today that we want to offer Ghanaians an alternative and tell all the noisemakers to shut up because those going to court, what are they going to argue about?” he asked.
He said, “I want to hear NPP talk about the fuel price hikes, the wrongs going on in Ghana. This is the time to offer alternatives, not keep complaining and wasting our time with threats of going to court. There’ll be no new register. End of the story.”
