Member of Parliament for North Dayi constituency, Joycelyn Tetteh, has made a sincere plea to President John Dramani Mahama for greater representation from the Volta Region in his ministerial appointments.

She mentioned that the area's substantial 2024 electoral contributions to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) validate its designation as a party's stronghold.

In an interview on PM Express on Joy News on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Tetteh emphasized the crucial role played by the Volta Region while acknowledging the contributions of all regions to the NDC's electoral success.

“I think we deserve more than three appointments. We have 18 seats and managed to reclaim one from the NPP, with only two women emerging out of the 18,” she said.

Tetteh emphasized the challenges faced by MPs in the region, especially women, stating, “Considering the political atmosphere, particularly for women, I believe the president wouldn’t overlook the fact that only two out of 18 MPs from the Volta Region are women."

"Despite limited resources, we worked hard to maintain our seats. It wouldn’t be unreasonable for the president to increase appointments from the party’s stronghold, but that decision lies solely with him,” she added
Tetteh responded that she would be willing to serve when asked if she would accept a position in the government.

“Having served my people as an opposition MP for eight years, it would be an honour to serve in government if deemed worthy. If President Mahama feels I deserve a place at the table, I am ready to serve,” she concluded.
