Family of the slain Captain of the 5th Infantry Battalion (5BN) Maxwell Adam Mahama has disclosed that it is their wish no woman in Ghana would go through the experience of Barbara wife of the late soldier.

Mr. Douri Bennin Haji who speaks for the family, said the widow is going through psychological trauma following the gruesome murder of her husband by residents of Denkyira-Boase exactly a week ago.

“It is the wish of the family that no woman in the country will go through her experience of losing her husband in such a barbaric attack. She is going through a lot and we pray and hope she overcomes it”, he disclosed on Monday.

According to him, it has not been easy for the family especially the wife and mother of the deceased to come to terms with the reality that Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama is no more.

“We continue to pray and we thank Ghanaians for the support and we are closely watching the security agencies and hope that they do the needful to bring the perpetrators of this horrendous act to book. Vengeance we believe is of the lord”, he intimated.

Background

The late Captain Mahama was a military officer with the 5th Infantry Batallion (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra but on detachment duties at the Denkyira Obuasi of the Central region.

Captain Mahama, according to his subordinates, was seen jogging along the main road and as he stopped by to ask some women for directions, the women saw a pistol on him. The women who were alarmed by the discovery of the pistol on Captain Mahama mistook him for an armed robber thereby alerting their assembly member who allegedly organised some men to lynch him and even burnt him in the process.
