Another Terror At KMA

... Bites Off Teacher's Ear

A kwabena Margo who parades the premises of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the streets of Kumasi at the head of a KMA Traffic Task Force and styles himself as the Special Assistant to the KMA boss, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has gone on the rampage.

He has brutally assaulted a 30-year-old teacher in a nasty incident.

Marfo chewed off Teacher Nurudin Ahmed's right ear last November 8 in what observers call an embarrassing situation.

The Kumasi Police are keeping the bitten ear as an exhibit, while investigations continue.

Chronicle investigations revealed that on Thursday, November 8, around 1 pm, Mr. Nurudin Ahmed, a teacher of T. I. Ahmaddiyya JSS 'B' School at Asokwa in Kumasi, was escorting his pupils to a sports' meeting.

The Pick-up car which was conveying the children stopped at a filling station at Amakom for refuelling.

It is reported that the self-styled Special Assistant emerged from nowhere and accused the driver of over-loading.

Marfo, according to Chronicle sources, would not see reason with the driver's explanation that the children were going for sports.

The Special Assistant then ordered the children out of the vehicle and called in the Task Force, via his mobile phone provided for by the KMA, to tow the vehicle away.

While at the KMA premises, Marfo ordered a policeman, simply known as Osofo (member of the Task Force), to arrest Nurudin for resisting arrest initially.

In the ensuing argument, Marfo reportedly slapped the teacher, who retaliated.

This led to a scuffle during which Marfo bit off Nurudin's right ear.

Realizing the harm, Marfo quickly spat out the severed ear of his victim and cleaned his mouth with a handkerchief.

As if that was not enough, Marfo bundled Teacher Nurudin into a vehicle and sent him to the police station on a charge of assault. Marfo showed a torn shirt to the police to back his claim.

The police issued medical forms to the two for medical treatment.

A report by Dr. D. O. Bankai of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, who stitched Nurudin's ear with difficulty, pointed to a deformation of the ear.

Chronicle could not readily talk to Marfo, who according to KMA's PRO, Kwame Frimpong, had since the incident not been seen at the KMA premises.

Marfo, who is referred to as a volunteer of the Task Force, is yet to explain his conduct to KMA authorities, according to Kwame Frimpong.

Chronicle can reveal that KMA is making frantic efforts to cover up the misdeeds of Marfo.

Nurudin's colleagues at Ahmadiyya JSS have been asked to keep a tight lip over the issue and not talk to the press.

Teacher Nurudin, who burst into uncontrollable tears on seeing his flesh spat out of Marfo's mouth on the ground, is in pains and has not been to school since.
