PLB Orders Stay Cool, Power to Build Stadium Wall

The Professional League Board (PLB) has ordered Stay Cool Professional and Power F/C, the two clubs which use the Tema Sports Stadium as their home ground to pull down the old walls of the stadium and construct new ones before May 30, 2003.

A statement signed by Mr. Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, which was issued last week, May 15, said if the walls are not reconstructed before May 30, the PLB would be forced to close the venue and relocate the two clubs.

It cited the poor condition of the walls as the reason for the PLB's action and justified it by the consequences of the May 9 tragedy, adding that, "precautionary measures must be taken to avert any disaster at our stadiums."

The statement also reminded match commissioners to send their reports to the GFA within 48 hours after a match.

It requested those charged with the Kinapharma Premier League to fax or e-mail their reports within two hours from the end of a match and made it clear that any official who fails to comply with the directives would be sanctioned.
