President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism that the newly-created initiative for job creation, Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO), will flourish to shame the “cynics and pessimists”.
According to him, with this initiative, the country has been set on the path of growth and prosperity.
“With NaBCO, we have planted the seeds for the growth of our country. I am in no doubt whatsoever that NaBCO will succeed,” he said on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 during the passing out of over 100,000 NaBCO recruits at a ceremony in Accra.
He added: “…Nonetheless, the scheme has well-constructed and clearly defined exit routes. Our public services and institutions, having benefited from the services of NaBCo trainees over the three-year period, will naturally have opportunities that will allow the retention of trainees who will justify their value.”
On Tuesday, 1 May 2018, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched NaBCo in Kumasi as an initiative by his government to provide employment for 100,000 unemployed graduates.
The programme is under seven modules designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation while providing jobs for unemployed graduate youth.
The beneficiaries will be engaged for three years and they are expected to earn a monthly stipend of GHS700 each.
“Your monthly stipend of GHS700 is not free; you must earn every pesewa of it”, the president told the beneficiaries at the event.
The modules are Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitise Ghana and Governance Ghana.
