NSS offers second chance to defaulters, private candidates, others

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has announced that eligible Ghanaians who missed the first opportunity to honour their mandatory national service can now enrol to do so.

A statement by the Corporate Affairs Directorate said, the NSS has opened registration for defaulters and private candidates for the 2020/2021 service year from Wednesday, January 15, 2020, to Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

“The Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) wishes to announce to the general public that eligible Ghanaians who missed the opportunity to do their national service in previous years and now wish to enrol to do the service, have from Wednesday 15th January 2020 up to Tuesday 31st March2020 to do so,” the statement said.

This group of people include candidates who registered and started but could not complete the service, private candidates who are qualified and wish to enrol, and Ghanaian nationals who schooled abroad.

According to the statement, eligible candidates who wish to enrol for the national service can submit their applications at any Regional Secretariat or the Head Office, from Wednesday, January 15, 2020, to Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

The statement said all applications must be accompanied by a letter requesting for PIN code or reactivation of PIN code, certified true copy of School Certificate or Transcript, an evidence of Deferment Letter, an Attestation/Introductory Letter from the institution attended, a copy of any of the following National Identifications (Voters, Driver’s License, Travel Passport) and a copy of School ID.

For international students, they are required to upload their travel passport and other supporting documents on portal.www.nss.gov.gh as part of the NSS Diaspora Programme.
