The National Democratic Congress is accusing the New Patriotic Party of fabricating violent acts to tarnish the image of the governing NDC.

Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho said the NPP is only manufacturing those stories to catch the attention of the international election observers in the country.

“They decided to create this storm. Because there are international observers in the country, suddenly, they are creating all this so that the international observers will look favourably at them as if someone is intimidating them,” he said.

Supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress undertaking a walk on Sunday, allegedly stopped over at Akufo-Addo’s Nima residence and tried to enter the house but met resistance from security personnel on duty.

The group reportedly threw stones and bottles into the house causing some damage.

But the NDC is denying engaging in any such act.

“These were NPP boys in NPP shirts who wielded guns. No NDC person wielded a gun. The people who wielded guns are Akufo-Addo’s boys.”

He insists the NDC is a peaceful party and would not engage any violent act.

But in a sharp rebuttal, Deputy Director of Communications of the NPP, Anthony Karbo insisted that the attack was planned and executed by the NDC.

He also accused the Ghana Police Service of biased. He said the Police service fails to attend to issues affecting the NPP.

“There are many instances where the Ghana Police has blatantly ignored any further investigations on matters when it relates to an attack on the NPP,” he said.
